Two huge days of indoor bargain hunting benefit Desert TheatreWorks, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit theatre company.
INDIO, Calif. – Find a treasure, take home a bargain and help keep live theatre thriving in the Coachella Valley.
Desert TheatreWorks, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit theatre company, is throwing open the doors of the Indio Performing Arts Center for The Great Backstage Blowout Sale, a huge two-day fundraising event on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day.

And this isn’t your average rummage sale. Shoppers will have the opportunity to explore an enormous and eclectic collection of theatre costumes, props, set pieces, lighting equipment, sound
equipment and other backstage finds, alongside furniture, clothing, household goods, accessories, electronics and much more.

Some items have spent years behind the scenes. Some have appeared onstage. Others are everyday treasures looking for a new home. Everything purchased helps support Desert TheatreWorks and its nonprofit mission.
Proceeds from The Great Backstage Blowout Sale benefit Desert TheatreWorks, including its youth theatre programming and scholarship opportunities, helping DTW continue producing live theatre while making performing arts experiences accessible to children and teens throughout the community.
“Supporting a nonprofit theatre can be as simple as coming out, finding something you love and knowing your purchase is making a difference,” said Ron Phillips, CEO of Desert TheatreWorks. “Every dollar raised through this sale goes back into supporting Desert TheatreWorks and our mission. It helps us continue producing live theatre, creating opportunities for artists and making theatre accessible to young people through our youth programs and scholarships. Come find a great bargain, have some fun and help support local theatre at the same time.”

A NEW WAY TO SUPPORT DTW YEAR-ROUND
The Great Backstage Blowout Sale is also a preview of a new permanent DTW Thrift Shop, which will open inside the Indio Performing Arts Center later this fall.

Once open, the DTW Thrift Shop will offer donated and theatre-related merchandise during regular weekday hours and before performances throughout the season, creating a new year-round way for the community to shop while supporting Desert TheatreWorks and its nonprofit mission.

Desert TheatreWorks is currently accepting donations of gently used clothing, furniture, household goods, accessories, electronics and other quality items for both The Great Backstage Blowout Sale and the permanent DTW Thrift Shop.
