Assassins is a Tony Award-winning musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by John Weidman, exploring the lives of nine people who assassinated or attempted to assassinate U.S. presidents, from John Wilkes Booth to John Hinckley Jr. The show, which premiered off-Broadway in 1990, examines their motivations and the dark side of the American Dream, culminating in a surreal scene involving Lee Harvey Oswald.
