Political Implicatins of Humanism: Wealth Inequality

Humanism is a philosophy the upholds reason and science as the best way to understand reality. In addition, it aspires to the flourishing of all humanity. These underlying principles have profound political implications. Wealth inequality in the US is an obstacle to building a humanistic society where all humans can reach their potentials and be economically secure. We will discuss possible solutions to this dilemma: should we vote for the wealth tax on the November California ballot? Is democratic socialism the answer? how have some European countries achieved more equitable societies? Participants will be encouraged to share their opinions on these and any other ideas that they may have regarding this topic.
