SUMMARY:Plaza Theatre Community Open House to Celebrate Grand Reopening
DESCRIPTION:The City of Palm Springs and the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre will host a free Community Open House and Block Party to showcase the newly restored theatre on Saturday November 22 from 10 am to 2 pm. Docent-led tours of the extensively restored structure will be offered throughout the day\, showcasing the extraordinarily detailed restoration and infrastructure improvement work that has been taking place at the theatre since 2023. The tours will highlight important elements that have been preserved and also showcase the new state-of-the-art technology that has been \n\n\n\nincorporated into the theatre. This is the first time that the public will be able to view the newly restored venue on their own. \n\n\n\n“We anticipate that the public will be thrilled and impressed with the theatre’s appearance\,” said Palm Springs Mayor Ron deHarte. “The Plaza Theatre had long been the jewel of Palm Springs\, but over the years the condition of the building had declined. When the City took possession of this aging historic structure\, we realized that it needed to return to its original splendor. I am so pleased that after all the hard work by the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre Foundation\, City staff\, the architects\, and the construction crew that this beautiful building now appears as it did when it first opened in 1936 and will once again be a cultural center for the community.” \n\n\n\nIn addition to tours\, free live performances will be presented throughout the day on the theatre’s stage\, spotlighting appearances by several of the community arts organizations that will make the Plaza Theatre their new home. Performers include Modern Men: Coachella Valley Men’s Chorus at 10 AM\, Coachella Valley Voices at 11 AM\, Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus at 12 PM\, and Musical Theatre University at 1 PM. \n\n\n\nSouth Palm Canyon Drive from Tahquitz Canyon Way to La Plaza will be closed to traffic that day and transformed into a festival space offering booths from community groups\, music by DJ Mod Girl\, and much more. Community booths will highlight local NR – Plaza Theatre Community Open House \n\n\n\norganizations. There is no cost to participate in the Grand Re-Opening festivities\, and the theatre will be open to the public for the first time since the restoration started. Participants may also book specific guided tour times at a booth in front of the theatre on the day of the event. The theatre’s Box Office will also be open if attendees wish to purchase any tickets for upcoming shows with no convenience fees.

DESCRIPTION:BEGINS DECEMBER 3 \n\n\n\nHigh School Choirs Perform Holiday Favorites at 8\,516 Feet \n\n\n\nThe “Sounds of the Holidays” concert series commences December 3at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway’s Mountain Station. Continuing a decades-long tradition\, visitors can enjoy Yuletide carols and holiday hits performed by high school choirs on select dates through December 14. \n\n\n\nFor the 2025 season\, the Tramway is proud to present the following line-up: \n\n\n\n\nWednesday\, December 3 – La Quinta High School Chamber Singers\n\n\n\nThursday\, December 4 – Cathedral City High School Lions’ Pride Chamber Singers\n\n\n\nSunday\, December 7 – Palm Springs High School Madrigal Choir\n\n\n\nWednesday\, December 10 – Shadow Hills High School Chamber Singers\n\n\n\nThursday\, December 11 – Coachella Valley High School Concert Choir\n\n\n\nSunday\, December 14 – Quartz Hill High School Chamber Singers and A Cappella Choir\n\n\n\n\nShowtimes are 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on the Pines Café Stage and are included with regular Tram admission. Food and beverage will be available for purchase at Pines Café and The Lookout Lounge. (Note: The December 7 choral performance is outside on the Desert View Terrace at 5:30 p.m. kicking off the Tramway’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. That evening\, there will also be a 7:30 p.m. performance inside on the Pines Café Stage).
