SUMMARY:International Day of Democracy 2026
DESCRIPTION:The United Nations marks the International Day of Democracy on September 15\, a global observance dedicated to strengthening democratic values\, protecting human rights\, and promoting inclusive participation worldwide. This year’s program at UN Headquarters highlights how deliberative democracy—bringing diverse voices directly into decision‑making—can deepen trust\, improve governance\, and ensure no one is left behind. \n\n\n\nThe featured event\, “Raising Hands and Voices\,” takes place from 1–2 pm in the Goals Lounge at UNHQ. Delegates\, civil society leaders\, and democracy experts will reflect on lessons from citizens’ assemblies around the world\, exploring how participation\, dialogue\, and inclusion can create more responsive and accountable institutions. The program aligns with Secretary‑General António Guterres’ call to “bring together people from across societies to enrich decision making\, foster trust\, and build more peaceful\, inclusive\, and resilient societies.” \n\n\n\nThe observance also celebrates the 20‑year milestone of the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF)\, which has supported more than a thousand grassroots initiatives advancing civil society\, independent media\, gender equality\, youth leadership\, and democratic innovation. UNDEF’s work remains vital as communities confront disinformation\, shrinking civic space\, and rising threats to democratic norms.

SUMMARY:LGBTQ+ Advocacy Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:I wanted to share some great news: Registration for our LGBTQ+ Advocacy Day 2026 is now live! \n\n\n\nWednesday\, March 25\, 2026\, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and concluding with an optional reception at 5:00 p.m. \n\n\n\nLast year\, nearly 300 people converged on the Capitol building in Sacramento to meet with their lawmakers about legislation that would improve the lives of all LGBTQ+ Californians — our biggest event ever! \n\n\n\nWith anti-LGBTQ+ attacks on the rise\, we know people are fired up\, and that means space is going to fill up fast. If you want to be part of LGBTQ+ Advocacy Day on Wednesday\, March 25\, 2026\, reserve your spot today. \n\n\n\nWhether you’ve never participated or you’ve come every year\, there is room for you to share your story and speak up about the importance of passing pro-equality bills. We’ll give you a virtual training before the event and a day-of refresher\, then you’ll gather with your assigned teams and head out for a day of meetings! \n\n\n\nWe’ll provide breakfast and lunch\, and at the end of the day is an optional reception where you can network with fellow attendees\, swap success stories\, and maybe even meet a member of the California Legislature. \n\n\n\nDon’t delay in registering — we anticipate this year’s event to be at capacity relatively quickly.
