Novy’s pieces\, alongside works from a range of international artists he admires\, highlight the movement’s role as both rebellion and celebration. \n\n\n\n“Queer art has always been an oppressed art form\,” says Novy. “We are not taggers—we are street artists. This is for social change. It’s about doing something better.” \n\n\n\nGallery director Mark Pellegrino adds\, “It is the responsibility of queer artists to question and challenge even the most progressive of politics. With iconography as distinctive as their sound\, ZZ TOP is virtually synonymous with beards\, hotrod cars\, spinning guitars and that magic keychain\, all of which transcend geography and language. \n\n\n\nFormed in Houston at the tail end of 1969\, ZZ TOP fused gritty blues roots with sharp rock sensibilities to become one of America’s most enduring bands. Their breakout came with Tres Hombres and the hit “La Grange\,” but it was 1983’s Eliminator that redefined their sound and image for a new era\, thanks to chart-toppers like “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Legs.” With a 50-year legacy\, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction\, and a Diamond-certified album under their belts\, the band—now with Elwood Francis stepping in after Dusty Hill’s passing—continues to live by their mantra: tone\, taste\, and tenacity.

DESCRIPTION:Palm Springs\, CA — The silks are ready\, the music is queued\, and the community is gathering once again for one of Palm Springs’ most colorful traditions: Flagging in the Desert during Pride Weekend! This free\, outdoor celebration will take place at Francis Stevens Park on Saturday\, November 8\, 2025\, from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM.Flagging in the Desert (FITD) is more than just dance—it’s joy in motion. Originating in San Francisco’s gay clubs in the 1970s\, flagging has grown into a cherished flow-art practice combining movement\, music\, and meditation. Picture vibrant silk flags swirling in rhythm with a live DJ set\, creating a kaleidoscope of color and energy against the stunning Palm Springs sky.This year’s FITD will include a live set from San Francisco DJ Steve Sherwood to keep the beats flowing and the flags flying\, plus a free class at 10:30 AM for newcomers to learn basic flagging moves. Flags will be available to borrow\, so no experience is needed. The event offers a welcoming\, all-ages\, pet-friendly environment\, so bring your friends\, chosen family\, and fur babies. As always\, the celebration is paired with community giving: donations collected during the event will benefit the Center Food Bank\, which provides essential groceries and nutritional support to individuals and families in need throughout the Coachella Valley.Whether you’re an experienced flagger\, curious first-timer\, or simply want to soak up the beauty of flowing silks and community spirit\, FITD is a Pride Weekend highlight not to be missed. Master of Ceremonies – Patrick Evans. to volunteer or for more information\, text or call 760-898-8604 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n9th Annual Memorial Ride for the PSPOA\n\n\n\nNovember 8 @ 10:00 am – 1:30 pm \n\n\n\nThe 9th Annual Memorial Ride for the Palm Springs Police Officers Association (PSPOA) will be held on Saturday November 8th starting at 10am at Palm Springs Motorsports. The event is a police-escorted motorcycle ride from Palm Desert to the Cathedral City Community Amphitheater\, where a memorial service will be held. The event supports the PSPOA Memorial Fund\, which benefits fallen officers and their families\, and will feature live music\, a beer garden\, raffles\, and vendors.  Ticket prices are $25 for a single rider\, $30 for a single rider with a passenger\, and $20 for non-riders to attend the event. Proceeds from the event benefit the Palm Springs Police Officers Association Memorial Fund.
